About Us

Eco 3D glasses rental program is a new entry into the world of digital 3D cinema by HanaCaption, LLC, which was originally established by and between Korea's Hana Media and Japan's Media International Corporation (MICO) to provide Asian language captions and subtitles.

MICO is the exclusive distributor of all NHK programs worldwide. MICO also purchases all international programming content for NHK.

As an importer of non-Korean language movies to Korea, Hana Media distributed some 50 titles including Fried Green Tomatoes, The Shawshank Redemption, Run Lola Run, Hanabi, Before Sunrise, and most Castle Rock Entertainment movies prior to the WB merger.

Hana Media has been an innovative company that evolves and adapts with advances in technology. In 2000, before the emergence of Red Box DVD rental machines, it developed a similarly unmanned rental kiosk for use in Korea with RFID-tagged VHS/DVD's for a simple, reliable and transparent rental process.

It also developed digitally projected movie subtitling system and multi-language closed captioning technology for digital TV to serve the hearing impaired as well as non-English speaking population. HanaCaption produced more than 200 studio movie subtitles that used these systems. It currently provides Chinese and Korean captioning for NBC LA's local news that is rebroadcasted via KSCI-TV (LA 18) channels.

The multi-language caption decoding technology was incorporated into digital-to-analog converters eligible for the US government DTV coupon program. HanaCaption was authorized by the US government (NTIA: National Telecommunications and Information Administration) to distribute government sponsored digital-to-analog converter boxes.
